Description

The Director of Compliance (Emerging Markets) will hold an important leadership role within 
the BVGroup business.

The job is responsible for leading the regulatory compliance efforts in markets where our existing ‘umbrella’ gambling licences allow us (or our service partners) to offer services on a ‘point of supply’ basis.

The role will report to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and the wider BVGroup, and you will work collaboratively across multiple teams within both B2C and B2B divisions. You will be tasked with ensuring that BVGroup’s business and products are fully compliant with all primary and secondary legislation within our emerging territories being serviced through our Gibraltar, Malta, and Isle of Man (through agreements with our service partners) gambling licences and any other licence that 
BVGroup acquires on a point of supply remote gambling licence.

This includes accountability of our safer gabling, enhanced due diligence, AML/CTF and regulatory compliance duties. Furthermore, you will be responsible for staying abreast of the regulatory requirements of international markets that present commercial opportunities for the BVGroup. Finally, you will be responsible for proactively driving and ensuring delivery of the group's continuous 
compliance efforts and regulatory projects.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Ensure business compliance with all relevant regulatory codes, licence requirements 
    and legislation.
  • Understand, monitor and review all developments within the regulatory environment, 
    identify development needs within the business and ensure any requirements are 
    communicated and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Manage project scopes by ensuring that there is alignment between business and 
    regulatory requirements.
  • Be one of the main points of contact with regulatory bodies (alongside the Executive 
    and Board functions) and any other related competent authorities (specifically 
    including, but not limited to the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner, the Isle of Man 
    Gambling Supervision Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority) and you will 
    need to establish relationships with key individuals in relation to regulatory 
    compliance matters.
  • Respond to queries and information requests from the Gambling Commissions and 
    ensure accurate regulatory returns and submissions are provided.
  • Respond to consultations and steering group requests issued by regulatory bodies 
    and work in conjunction with industry trade associations and lobby groups to promote
    legislation that is in line with BVGroup’s business strategy.
  • Work with the wider Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to continuously improve the 
    businesses AML, KYC and SG risk models to ensure they remain effective.
  • Provide day to day support to all internal and external stakeholders on any issues 
    around any market compliance and regulation.
  • Project-lead, as required, and manage both external and internal regulatory 
    audits/compliance reviews.
  • Develop regular monitoring procedures and practices to assess the adequacy and 
    effectiveness of internal systems.
  • Be responsible for Safer Gambling obligations, AML, EDD and other compliance 
    related requirements within the markets in which we operate and drive these 
    initiatives across the business.
  • Support periphery Compliance functions such as CDD, Data Protection, Business 
    risk, Procurement and Fraud as needed.
  • Build upon the existing Compliance reporting function to ensure the relevant KPIs 
    and metrics are maintained, updated and monitored with timely and accurate reports.
  • Design, implement and maintain suitable chat and telephony systems so customers 
    can be contacted for enhanced due diligence and safer gambling purposes.
  • Review customer accounts and undertake dip-sampling programmes to ensure 
    effective controls and operations are consistently followed by the operational teams.
  • Ensure existing licences maintain good standing and support the Legal team with 
    new licence applications in emerging markets.
  • Provide operational support to the Customer Service, Payments, Product and 
    Marketing teams to ensure compliance and regulatory processes are being upheld in 
    order to provide full support to customers and stakeholders.
  • Person Specification, Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • A strategic thinker who is able to understand the long-term implications of changes in
    policy to BVGroup’s business and that of its competitors.
  • Assertive and enthusiastic and able to travel (typically to Malta or Gibraltar) as and 
    when appropriate.
  • Strong experience in regulatory compliance and a proven track record of working 
    with remote gaming companies and/or remote gaming regulatory authorities and 
    governing bodies.
  • Has an ability to understand and interpret both primary and secondary legislation and
    the impact it may have on the industry.
  • Fully understands the concepts of AMLCTF/KYC/SG/DP, and other corporate and 
    compliance related rules and regulations.
  • Has relevant Legal, Internal Audit, or Compliance qualifications. ICA 
    Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) an advantage.
  • A foundation understanding of business information systems and Internet technology 
    specifically as it applies to the online gaming sector.
  • Experience of leading internal change management projects. Formal project 
    management training an advantage.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills (other languages a bonus).
  • Experience of leading a team of 10+ people and enthusiastic about working in a 
    team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
