The Finance Director is responsible for achieving and monitoring the objectives of the Finance team, while meeting all deadlines in a timely and professional manner. The focus will be to lead and manage teams and streamline information flows across the business, consolidate the accounts, review working capital, manage cash balances and controlling the Balance Sheet.
Responsible for companies in Gibraltar, UK, Isle of Man and Hungary. Ensuring audit and regulatory deadlines are met. The teams reporting to the Finance Director include Financial Control, Treasury/Accounts Payable, Payment Service Provider (PSP) Reconciliations and Procurement.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
Management Accounting / Financial Control
- Own the end-to-end process of the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow
- Ensure appropriate variance analysis has been conducted on a monthly basis against accurate key comparatives and contribute to this process through insights gained from the business
Financial Reporting
Responsible for preparing and reviewing all internal and external financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, including:
- Detailed analysis and commentary of Direct Costs, including affiliates, gaming taxes, sports data, license fees and PSP fees.
- Monthly management accounts and reports.
- Ad hoc reporting, including Senior Management Meetings, Banks.
- Preparation of financial data for quarterly board packs.
- Help drive the budget process, specifically balance sheet and cash flow.
- Maintenance of Monthly Financial Reporting Index/Table and Chart of Accounts.
- Ensure the standardisation of reporting and schedules across all entities.
- Improve the consistency of reporting and include multiple validation checks.
Management
- Direct and supervise the control, treasury, PSP recons and procurement teams.
- Provide coaching to improve quality and efficiency in the delivery of responsibilities.
- Drive longer-term professional growth, engaging with team members to establish career development objectives and targets.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance
- Responsible for all direct and indirect taxes, including corporation tax returns, VAT and betting taxes. Ensuring both the calculations and returns are accurate.
- Ensure that all intercompany and intergroup billing complies with the Group’s Transfer Pricing policy.
- Working with the compliance department to ensure all finance related regulatory requirements are met across various jurisdictions.
Systems, Controls and Other
- Ensure adherence to internal control frameworks, drive systems integrations and implementation of projects.
- The full player balance and revenues reconciliation.
- Liaise with the BI team to ensure that transactional data received is relevant, accurate, complete and received on time.
- Take ownership of allocation keys for allocating/sharing costs across regions and products to be used for Transfer Pricing and cost allocation in the ERP solution.
- Administrator for finance solutions, including flows, users, rolling periods and running FX.
Value Add
- Contribute to the development of company strategy, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities.
- Driving the rollout and improvement of new finance solutions across the group.
Person Specification, Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Commercially astute, articulate and technically strong.
- High integrity and openness with commitment to good governance.
- Dynamic and insightful with the ability to operate at strategic and operational levels.
- A proactive approach: you should be motivated to take the initiative to make improvements.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible financial experience is required. A minimum of 5 years of financial management experience.
- Communication skills necessary to provide effective presentation of ideas, plans and processes to other departments and senior management.
- Proven management skills and the ability to lead and develop finance teams.
- Readiness to proactively drive and deliver high-impact results through both individual and team efforts. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to self-motivate and successfully work on multiple projects.
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge. Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP. Experience in reviewing Annual Financial Statements of multiple jurisdictions.
- Advanced Excel Skills.
- Strong understanding of financial principles.
- Previous experience of accounting software, preferably an ERP solution (NetSuite/NSPB) and Procure to Pay (Coupa).
- Ability to work to tight timelines.
- Previous experience within the online gaming industry is highly desirable.
