The Head of Compliance (Gibraltar) is a senior role within BVGroup with responsibility for leading regulatory and AML compliance efforts that affect our company. The role will report to the Director of Compliance working collaboratively across multiple teams within both B2C and B2B divisions.
The post holder will ensure BVGroup’s business and products are fully compliant with all legislation as set out under the Gibraltar licence regulations, applicable guidance and other localised legislation. The post is responsible for proactively driving regulatory excellence and ensuring delivery of continuous compliance efforts and regulatory projects.
The Head of Compliance will help drive compliance change processes. This will entail delivery of best-in-class practices by ensuring commercial and regulatory expectations are aligned. The post holder will be required to lead internal discussions that facilitate these changes as well as deliver meaningful improvements.
The role also requires the post holder to build and develop an effective team that takes ownership of its responsibilities, seeks to improve in all areas and provides appropriate advice in the appropriate manner. The post holder will set clear departmental KPI’s, ensuring they are met and reported on. They will also ensure that departmental reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties:
- Maintenance of documented and effective compliance policies and procedures that are in line with regulatory requirements, internal standards and business goals
- Ensure all AML/CFT regulatory requirements and standards are met
- Ensure business compliance with all relevant regulatory codes, licence requirements and legislation
- Ensuring legal and regulatory documents are always in line with current directives and regulations
- Provide day to day support to all internal and external stakeholders on any issues around market compliance and regulation
- Be one of the main points of contact with regulatory bodies and any other related competent authorities (specifically including the Gibraltar regulatory bodies)
- Remain up to date with changes in legislation (training costs met by the company) and best practice
- Prepare monthly compliance updates, as well as weekly updates as required
- Build upon the Compliance reporting function to ensure the monitoring of process and regulatory and operational effectiveness is maintained
- Respond to consultations and steering group requests issued by regulatory bodies
- Work in conjunction with industry trade associations and lobby groups to promote legislation that is in-line with BVGroup’s business strategy
- Work with the relevant teams to investigate compliance/regulatory breaches
- Assist with emergency and business continuity planning
- Manage project scopes by ensuring that there is alignment between business and regulatory requirements
- Develop regular monitoring procedures and practices to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal systems and controls
- Understand, monitor and review developments within the regulatory environment. This includes identifying development needs within the business and ensuring requirements are communicated and implemented in a timely manner
- Respond to queries and information requests from regulatory bodies and ensure accurate regulatory submissions are provided
- Work with the wider Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to continuously improve the businesses AML risk models to ensure they remain effective
- Review customer accounts and undertake dip-sampling programmes to ensure effective controls and operations are consistently followed by the operational teams
- Ensure existing licences maintain good standing and support the Legal team with new licence applications in emerging markets
- Provide operational support to the Customer Service, Payments, Product and Marketing teams to ensure compliance and regulatory processes are being upheld to provide full support to customers and stakeholders
- Undertake other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Director of Compliance (Gibraltar)

Person Specification, Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

- Can continually evaluate ab measure results against personal and departmental objectives
- Good understanding of AML and CTF concepts and other compliance-related regulations (e.g., Marketing)
- Able to travel when appropriate.
- Strong experience in regulatory compliance and a proven track record of working with remote gaming companies and/or remote gaming regulatory authorities and governing bodies
- Has relevant Legal, Internal Audit, or Compliance qualifications. ICA Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) an advantage
- A foundation understanding of business information systems and Internet technology specifically as it applies to the online gaming sector
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills (other languages a bonus)
- Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities
